Stronger With Every Step

You probably already know that breast cancer awareness is an important topic during October. But did you also know that physical therapy (PT) and the specialists who practice it is celebrated during the same month?

The goal of National Physical Therapy Month (NPTM) is to raise awareness of the key role that physical therapists and physical therapy assistants can play in helping people find relief from pain, improve mobility and live healthier, more physically-able lives.

As part of our commitment to enhancing our resident’s lives and keeping residents active, Inlet Coastal Resort has partnered with The Weston Group to provide onsite physical therapy to residents.

Physical therapy is used to promote a patient’s ability to attain, retain, and enhance optimum functional performance by reducing pain, restoring function and preventing disability. The Physical Therapists from The West Group work as part of ICR’s rehabilitation team to provide a well-rounded program which may include the following services:

  • Pain Management
  • Therapeutic & Strengthening Exercises
  • Range of Motion
  • Massage
  • Balance Assessment & Improvement
  • Fall Prevention

In addition to providing PT services, ICR and The West Group offer a comprehensive, objective evaluation to thoroughly assess and measure every aspect of daily function. The evaluation is offered to new admissions, readmissions and current residents experiencing a decline in one or more functional areas.

A detailed report will assess the physical demands of daily living and how those demands may impact the overall quality of life.  Residents will receive a customized treatment plan focused on improving independence in daily activities in a safe and appropriate manner.  Together, ICR and The West Group will work together to keep residents as independent, active and happy.

We would like to thank The Weston Group and onsite Physical Therapist, Nan Means, OTR/LClinical Coordinator, for all of the services you provide our residents.
